Latin Name: Passerina Ciris
Range: There are two separate breeding populations of Painted Buntings in the United States. One is in the south-central U.S. The other is along the Atlantic coast from North Carolina to central Florida.
Fact: The Painted Bunting is called "siete colores" or seven colors in Mexico. In Louisiana they are known as "nonpareil" which is French for without equal.
