Manatee Crossing Sign

It is believed that manatees have evolved from the same line as the elephant.  The fossils we have found estimate that they are 60 million years old.  Did you know that you cannot tell how old a manatee is when it is alive, but you can count the layers of rings inside a manatee's ear to tell how long it did live.  Some can live for 60 years.  This sign features a picture of a mother Manatee and its baby.
