Papilio cresphontes is the largest butterfly in most of North America with a wingspan of 6 inches (16cm). The caterpillar is mottled olive, brown and white, resembling bird droppings, and is considered a major pest in orange groves. The adults fly fast and high and range from Venezuela to Canada.
