Description
A Photographic Field Guide to the Amphibians and Reptiles of the Lowland Monsoon Forests of Southern Vietnam
By: Anna B Vassilieva, Eduard A Galoya, Nikolay A Poyarkov, Peter Geissler, Nguyen Van Sang
This richly illustrated photographic field guide describes 142 species of amphibians and reptiles of the lowland monsoon forests of southern Vietnam. This area is poorly studied compared with the northern territories of the country, yet the unique semi-deciduous monsoon forests of southern Vietnam are much endangered and require intensive studies and protection. Besides the beautiful photographs, the book gives information on external morphological features, in order to help the reader to quickly identify species of amphibians and reptiles in the wild. The book also contains modernized taxonomy, and updated information on species distribution, ecology, reproduction and larval morphology. Photos of certain species and their larval forms, including some newly discovered by the authors, are published for the first time.
324 pages, 396 color photos, color distribution maps
